This was a group project where we were tasked with creating a ride and retail experience within an existing building. We decided to do a project that combined astrology, astronomy and mythology and told the story of the Zodiac in a planetarium setting. I took on the role of Project Manager and came up with the concept of a celestial voyage on a trireme through a nebula to meet with giant projections of the Zodiac Characters. I then developed the logline, ride script, story beats and storyboard, while overseeing the narrative continuity of the whole experience. I created the concept of the Oracle of Delphi as the narrator as well as her character design and her prediction vending machine at the ride exit. I was also in charge of the retail alcoves including their shelving innovations and interactive elements. I hand drew many of the elements I contributed and then edited them in Photoshop. For the retail alcoves, I created a Sketchup model and then hand drew and Photoshopped the images into the final renderings.
The design of the Zodiac Characters, the Façade, and Fountain were done by Zena Liu. I contextualized her characters in the ride renderings and created the cloud nebula backgrounds. The masterplan and elevations were done by Ruby Zhang. The planetarium moodboard and perspective were done by Jenny Jett and Sally Lindsay.
