For this project, we were tasked with adapting any existing ride track to the IP of our choice. I chose to create a water rapids ride based on the thrilling chase scene in The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug where Bilbo and The Company of Thorin Oakenshield escape the Woodland Realm by floating down a treacherous river in barrels.
I do not own The Hobbit or any division of LOTR, nor do I claim to have created the ride track which is based on the Roaring Rapids ride in Six Flags Magic Mountain. The concept for the raft consisting of 8 rotating barrel 'seats' around a larger central 'pontoon' barrel is an original idea.
